Magic. Johnson.

July 31, 2016

He couldn't nail the field goal, so he went over for a try instead.

A piece of Shaun Johnson magic gave the Warriors a golden-point NRL win this time over Penrith at a wind-swept and rainy Mt Smart Stadium, the star halfback scoring next to the posts with less than a minute of extra time remaining.

The 25-year-old Kiwi shaped to kick a field goal in the Auckland downpour before dancing past several onrushing Panthers defenders to cross the line on the 89th minute to complete the 20-16 victory and lift his side into the top eight on points difference. The try meant the Warriors finally claimed a golden-point win, having lost three of their previous four games after the 80 minutes were up.
